Aero Engine Manufacturer

Custom Fittings has worked with one of the world’s leading aero-engine manufacturers for over twenty years. During this time, Custom Fittings’ involvement with their business has developed substantially, from the supply of custom made stainless steel components, to the provision of important strategic advice on how to make operations run more efficiently.

In this instance, Custom Fittings had attended the client’s manufacturing facility and, during a tour of the testing area, noted that aero-engine engineers were inconvenienced by the shortage of specialist connector components for pressure testing hoses on aero-engines. Not only were aero- engine engineers having to devise their own connection systems to conduct pressure tests with resultant inaccuracies, but this exercise was taking a disproportionate amount of time and money by personnel charged out at £400 per hour.

To solve this problem, Custom Fittings devised a specialist hose connector kit (the RRK01) with the versatility to test all fittings, whatever their specification. The connector kit utilises a simple colour coding system, making it easy and quick for aero-engineers to identify which connector should be used for testing with the added benefit of extreme accuracy. The kit has proved so popular that its use is now incorporated within the aero-engine manuals as standard practice.
As a result of Custom Fittings’ advice, the client has saved significant time and money testing its aero- engines with more accuracy than ever before. And now aero-engineers can be spend their time more productively on tasks that really add value to the client’s business.

Cardiff Bay

Custom Fittings was approached by a property development firm with a significant problem in 2004. In developing the Cardiff Bay area with industrial and residential property, the surrounding area had suffered a significant environmental impact, resulting in stagnant water infiltrating Cardiff Bay. Consequently the valuable properties that had been so carefully planned and built at significant cost became uninhabitable due to the terrible smell from the bay.

With plenty of properties to sell but no one willing to rent or live there, the Cardiff Bay developers contacted Custom Fittings for help. In record time, Custom Fittings devised a bespoke system which successfully areates the water in the bay and make the buildings a delight to live and work in and also avoided a potential public relations and financial disaster.
